It's a Bit Broken... So What?

It's a broken record.
How can you fix that?
No amount of glue will make a difference.
It's always going to have that crack on its surface.
And every time it plays, the needle will jump in that spot.
Still, you put it on everyday,
Because that's how much you love it.
So, you learn to live with it.

Things happen. A lot of things. Sometimes we have no control over them while other times we do. Some are good news and some are not so much. To say we'll never experience hurts or disappointments (maybe it's about a particular person or it could be a goal/event) would be a lie. But to say that we can just forget about everything that's happened - whether good or bad - is myopic. We, humans, have amazing memory of happenings; some store more fond ones than others. Then, it isn't all that hard to let all these things define us; after all, whatever we go through shape us the way we are. Some of us may feel more broken than others. Whoever you are and wherever you are - God loves you just the way you are.

But that's not the best part! Let me explain the deeper meaning of that sentence.

In my life, I've come to experience God's love in such ways that no words can really describe. There have been patches where I was ashamed of myself, of my circumstances and wished I had a better/ less broken life and had lesser disappointments. Then, in those moments, I could hear God whispering that He loved me the way I am regardless of the situations. I didn't understand what He could mean - like couldn't He just change my life? Make it better somehow? But looking back now, I have no regrets or resentment towards any of that - they had to happen in order for me to be me. And we ought to take pride in that!

Sometimes we look to people's approval so often that we forget the One who created all and chose to love us above all else. It may be hard for those without the same faith as us to understand, but once we experience the love of God there is an unspeakable joy - like the same enthusiasm in 1 Joh 3:1 (NIV) - "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

With God, there is nothing to fear. It's okay to re-visit those pasts (and it's okay, too, if you choose not to). Wherever you are and whatever circumstances you are in, He can meet you there. In Him, you can find peace. So what if things are broken, and so broken that they can't be fixed? So what if a thing or two didn't work out? It's not just the world will keep on turning. They made us more compassionate, more perceptive, more loving, and taught us how to get back up when we fall, to lean on God. On top of that, God still loves you regardless!

No one is a failure - every step creates us to become a better version of ourselves. Instead of blaming God for the wrongs in what we know as a broken world where ill-fated events do occur, we can allow God to come in, heal us and take us on a new adventure. Trust me, once you do that you'll encounter something wonderful, like living in Shangri La. That is what love is - it triumphs over all. And there is no greater love than the one shown to us through Jesus Christ.

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." - 1 John 4:18 (NIV)

Blessings and peace to you.

  1. Our living Lord has accomplished tremendous healing in my life through His amazing love, as well. I've come to understand the truth that "His power is made perfect in our weakness." We are all broken in some way and God's love shows us a tremendous value of ourselves far above whatever our performance could provide.
Blessings, abundant love and peace continue to be with you!
