Blessed to be Blessing
Well, it's been over a year since I last posted on this blog. Things have been good on this side, and I trust that they are good on yours, too.
Back at seminary, my thesis was on 'Blessed to be Blessing'. I wrote 30 pages of material showing this theme from Old Testament to New Testament. I pointed out how God chose Abraham to bless all the nations, then through Israel, Jesus and now us, Christians. So, in theory, I should know this well and be rather good at it. Having said that, I seemed to have lost sight of it, being so held up in my own little world of achievements. Speaking as a writer aspiring to be published, I can say that a lot of anxiety (and depression) comes in when you're a creative, especially when you attempt to make a career out of it. There are sacrifices you have to make. And sometimes, everything gets a bit overwhelming that you lose sight of the simple, the beautiful.
I must admit being in twenties is an awkward phase, trying to achieve so much while still figuring out what life is about. What if life really isn't about what we can achieve but what we can offer? What if we're blessed with something, a gift, and all we're asked to do is share that gift with the world? Why not simplify what we often complicate in our minds? We are blessed, so that we can bless others. That's what makes life full.
Now, go out there and beam a smile. You look more beautiful that way anyway!

Sometimes, all it takes is just
one smile to keep going,
one hug to feel comforted,
one touch to be accepted,
one friend to know you're not alone.
