Until Then

No matter how ready she thought she was,
how much she prepared her heart,
she was still far from it.
The day still came like an unforeseen excavator,
bulldozing over what she's built.
The fortress she created,
the guards she placed,
still they crumbled.
Along the way,
she experienced the effects it plays on her life.
Not a day had gone by has she not thought of the 'what-ifs'...
And now, it won't be just a thought,
but perhaps something that lasts.
Who would look at her the same?
Who would treat her like equal?
Who would choose to stay by her?
Who wouldn't be afraid to be with her?
'Til there be the day where there is miracle;
'til there be the day where she can taste acceptance;
'til there be the day she learns to cope,
questions and doubts will linger.
And until then,
she will fight this storm alone;
And until then,
she will sit on her windowsill,
looking out into the dark skies,
waiting for the day when all will be right.
