3-Minute Writing Exercises
Again, I haven't done a blog post in a long while. But let's okay, because I'm back! To kick it off this year, I thought I should share with you a snippet of my writing life. Yes, I love writing and I find time to write - that's what a writer does. There's one thing you ought to know about writers, they take time (a lot of time, through practice, reading, researching and lots of re-writing) to craft a perfect sentence. So when writers are asked to produce a piece in a set time, it can actually be quite daunting. And that was exactly what happened last night at writing group. We were put on the spot to produce two pieces of writing in sets of three minutes, then we had to read them out loud (can't say I didn't feel embarrassed.) Having said that, I thought I should share with you what we had to write about. (Yes, I am slightly proud of what I was able to accomplish, hence this whole sharing thing...) Enjoy!
The first one was on the word 'mug':
Mug.
Cold. Hot. Warm.
Cold, when it's been left out for too long.
Hot, when it just got the perfect splash.
Warm, when the timing is right.
You want coffee? Hot chocolate? Tea?
Mug's got that capacity to hold it.
The second was to write a pitch for my 2015:
The turn of events can either make you stronger or bitter, yet when things went outside of what I considered as perfect planning, I have all but one choice - keep moving forward.
